| Can you imagine how upset you'd be if you had 2 characters... 1 a pally who now looked like a dickhead, and 1 mage who now looks like a tank... you'd be mortified... oops sorry shiro Real priest set... I've just noticed that all the priest sets have the exact same model so maybe the models are placeholders... lets hope so for the sake of pallies and mages. _________________ |

| WHAT?! Why BOTH the classes I pick, the gear like ZOMGWTFBBQ?! Well, my only comfort is that the pally shoulders don't look like crap for this tier set. But what is up with the mismatching colours for pally gear? Fashion sense like total fail. & human models are fail. EXACTLY. How can people not see that all the gear is t8 and t7 and non-set pieces mixed together? RAGE.
Anyway, information on the newly changed Argent Defender talent from the PTR:
| Quote: | Hey there, just tested out the new AD on the test realm. Here are some answers questions:
It reduces damage by 30%. It reduces the entire hit that takes you below 35% by 30%. It also reduces hits taken afterward (from below 35% to also below 35%). The "GS" effect works like Guardian Spirit except places a debuff on you (2 min duration) called Ardent Defender. It is now shown in the combat log as absorbed damage, as is the would-be "killing blow." While you have the Ardent Defender debuff, the damage reduction portion no longer takes effect.
Combat log screenshot: http://www.bennlinger.com/wow/ardent_defender.jpg
UPDATE: It may be a bug, but this currently DOES proc the debuff even if Guardian Spirit is up on you. In fact, it even takes presedence: You get healed by AD (30%) and Guardian Spirit isn't proc'd.
Screenshot of that: http://www.bennlinger.com/wow/ad_gs.jpg
UPDATE2: Mortal Strike reduces the heal.
UPDATE3: Does not work for death by fall damage. |
What this means is there's effectivley a 2 minute cooldown on the heal AND the damage reduction. Sounds balanced to me.
This, and the change to seal of the martyr/vengeance for tanking means pallies need to gear for hit/expertise to keep a decent threat margin. Heaven forbid. _________________ Stand for something, Or you'll fall for anything - Skindred

| Sym what r u talking about seal of righteousness is now the premier tanking seal, seal of martyr no longer exists, seal of vengeance is the pve ret seal, seal of command is the pvp ret seal. _________________ |

| Incorrect. SoV (formerly called SoM for blood elves, now taking the ally name) will be a better threat seal than Righteousness. /point http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=18031134123&sid=1To make the most of the seal, paladins will need to actually focus on more than just their spells hitting the mob. So, back to | Quote: | | the change to seal of the martyr/vengeance for tanking means pallies need to gear for hit/expertise to keep a decent threat margin. Heaven forbid. |
Edit for further data: http://www.failsafedesign.com/maintankadin/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=24184
| Quote: | SoR scales from AP and SP, whereas the new SoV mechanic scales with weapon damage like SoB. If we can rely on Theck's previous work on SoB as a set of guidelines for approaching these changes, we can generate a few preliminary hypotheses. Among these, certainly, is that fact that expertise becomes a far more valuable stat for TPS.
Most importantly in terms of preparing for 3.2, the new SoV should scale best with a slow weapon. Reckoning exaggerates this even further. Even if the TPS difference between Reckoning/Crusade/SotP is close, a slow weapon could make Reckoning pull ahead in the comparison. The bottom line is that Vulmir, the Northern Tempest and Broken Promise seem likely to trump other weapons (with the possible exception of Sorthalis, Hammer of the Watchers). |
