hey guys, just wanted to give all of us a pat on the shoulders. we really come a long way from the 10+ members to downing Illidan. Too bad we couldn't do it before the nerf, had we started 3 mths earlier I would have no doubt we would be in Sunwell already.
Let's replicate our success in WOTLK. But as BooBs had never been through the transition period, we need to think ahead on how to do that with minimal drama when we start our raid machine rolling again. BooBs started at 70, started small, started with all raiders only hence we have never encountered those dramas of breaking up, accusations of unfairness, cliches etc etc.
Now our ranks have swelled, (not just pectorals), we need to think about the HR aspect of transitioning from leveling to raiding.
We have the current ranks: Raiders>Initiates>Members. We used to have just raiders and initaites but later open recruitment to members cause we understand the game is about having fun with your friends too. But what we have seen with other guilds in BC surfaced an undeniable concern. Who to take to raid? Who to sit out? How do we handle the lobbying of friends who are in member rank to raid? How to we keep our current crops of raiders happy if we over recruit?
This is hard cos at the end of the day, this is a just game but on the other hand, we need that teeny weeny bit of ruthlessness, which we sometimes find it hard to muster especially when you are dealing with friends, to succeed in our objective to be one of the first few guilds in nagrand to see end game content.
That's why we have rules and we hope everyone accept these rules.
Without setting new rules, at least not much, I wish to reiterate that members are recruited as members only, not as raiders, not as initiates. You accept to join us as members and we agreed. You do not lobby to be a raider/initiates. We may recruit other initiates for raid spots rather than promoting within (members to initiates) or we may ask certain members to join our raiding ranks if they so wish. But this is subject to guild needs, current raiders availability, skills and attitude. Not how many friends you have. If any current members think this is unfair, think what you accepted when you join our guild, joining as a guild member is not a backdoor to our raids. I would suggest you find a raiding guild straight away that suits you need. I regret to say any qqers or lobbyists will be Gkick. I don't think any of us deserve to deal with all these unnecessary stress just to play this game.
These are the rules of guild and you accept them on our terms.
Why so hardass? This done so to protect our current crop of raiders and morale of the guild. Imagine 10 levels from now, in Nax. Guild member CCB had become very popular with the guild and 'suddenly' decides he wants to raid. So he go tells his 1000001 friends of his wishes. The lobbying begins, due to immense pressure, the officers gave in and squeeze him into the raid spots, rotating 1 raider that we have had for ages. CCB may turn out to be a very sucky player or maybe if we are lucky a good player. But what happens to member KNN, member KNNCCB who all got inflicted by the raid bug and whom all had loads of friends who will lobby for them?
People join us to have a fun, smooth ride to end game content, not to deal with emo dramas.
If anyone has any friends that wish to join us, ask them to state their intention upfront. Our rules are clear. There won't be any promotions until we are ready to raid at 80. And if and when there is, we will announce and only because it's for the best of the guild, not because you have more friends (you may have friends but I have the admin rights).
I've not seen or heard any guilds pre-bc/bc that have managed this transition well, let's strive to make Boobs the first.
Oh and of a separate note, I'll be handing the guild leadership to Daedaluzz once i manage to find time to get on. I'll not be able to play as often as I like due to extra work caused by the stupid recession. This is a temp to perm arrangement and done so the guild can operate as per normal in LK.
