Instant Ventrilo is coming due Jan 19!

Right now I'm looking into a new ventrilo server, the one we have now is located in Frankfurt, Germany. I could look for one in the US but i'm not sure if it solve the lag issues for any of the SG and Aussie players. I, myself is located in Hong Kong and have not really had any lag issues. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

The current server used to work fine. In the past few months though, it started to lag out badly for some of us (10000+ ping, basically can't hear anything), especially when we have a full raid logged on. Sometimes, Shiro will be able to hear vent perfectly fine while I lag out (and we are sharing the same internet connection), and other days it might be the other way round. No idea why. Anyway, these problems have cropped up often enough that it's worthwhile to look for a new server once our existing one expires.

Given that the majority of our players are located in Singapore, Malaysia and Western Australia, it probably makes sense to get a server in this region (sorry Shift!). I am not sure which location works best, however.

Does anyone know whether there is any way to test the latency that we will get with vent servers located in different countries?

Howdy guys. I guess Australia or US West coast should be best for ping.

Ventrillo has servers in Brisbane and Sydney for AU, LA and San Jose for US.

How about a server located in Singapore - not sure how our connectivity is for players located in the US, Aus or elsewhere?

Don't most of these vent companies have a trial account to test vent out? maybe we can try before we commit to buy anything

I did order a SG vent server from darkstarllc, but it still got laggy for both SG and non SG users

I have a few old vents I still use here in US, perhaps the next time we run a 10man or somthing we can use it, test out the connection.

dammit the lightspeed gaming just auto renewed so i have a trouble ticket to see if i can move the location of the vent server

Ok i've moved the vent server to San Jose, CA. The only change is our port is 4319 everything else is the same.
