Personally I don't particularly like this writer - egotistical, QQs too much on his shaman and likes to show off his chest hair and toons, but some good points from this article:

Tank Talk: Great power and great responsibility

It's a general tendency that, even in guilds with designated raid leaders who are usually a ranged or healing class that can sit back and see the action from a wider perspective, it's often a tank who actually decides kill orders, marks targets, and in so doing defines the way an encounter will proceed.

sounds like an egolomaniac..have to sieve out the i so important bits to get the few good points out of this article. don't like his prose either.

tanking is a grp activity, but so is healing and dpsing. and how these activities are being performed are highly dependent on current talent pool and nature of the fight.

spend you do know that certain brandy if use correctly aids the growth of chest hair....well, if all else fails you can send him a pic of your bush.

the guy who wrote this must have never played a healer

healer has similar responsibilites

and on more occasion a wipe would tend to point the finger at the healer

when i was healer 24/7 long ago i always had a certain bond with the tank

its the knowledge that once you're in a group the tank looks at you and you look at the tank

sometimes a quiet nervousness exist between these two responsibilites

nowdays when i play more on protection

i find it most important to take care of my healers, aggro wise and personally

tank as much as i want, an unmotivated healer might just let me die and says 'you're taking too much damage' Surprised Tuvok !

the bond between tank and healers is always there

and the responsibilities are shared

Healing is the easier but often the more thankless jobs, compared to tanking and dpsing.

Imz likes to graphically explain his situations, looking here and there, but what Imz is trying to say, and I agree, is that both tanks and healer must adapt to each other play style.

A good healer, in a 5 men, should learn to adapt to how best heal the tank. Pally tanks take the quickest burst of damage at boss, so BIG heals, where Druid and Warrior tanks take less, hence HOTs are generally more effective. Also play style. Crazy pally tanks like Imzra loves to aggro whole instance, and tank 173453548 mobs at one go, so have to be careful when to heal, healing too early, u pull aggro.

Like-wise, a tank needs to also fully understand the healers. Pally healers can take good damage/bubble themselves, priests can fade/shield, Resto druids are the most iffy when it comes to 5 men, as any aggro means u have to pick them off immediately.
