PostSubject: computer problem   computer problem EmptySat May 15, 2010 10:47 am

Hey guys...

I am having another problem... this time is with my computer. When I log into WoW first time after turning on machine it is okay. Than around 30 secs to a minute WoW just disappears. The whole thing is gone... it is like I never log'd in. Than when I try to log in again it gets stuck and shows "cancel" which is just before the part where it usually shows success. After about half an hour I will be able to log in like normal again. I think this part of the problem is just this is how long it takes WoW to auto log me off.

The problem is that when I log in again not long after WoW is gone again. I have tried reinstalling the game last night but when I tried it this morning the same thing happened. I have ran anti virus and it does not seem like a virus problem.

I can surf / watch movies and do everything else on my computer like normal.

My computer was working fine on Thursday night and this problem just happened for no reason on Friday.

Any ideas???

I once had wow stop working for me after seconds/minutes from logging on. I later discovered it was because the fan of my graphics card wasn't working anymore. The graphics card heats up to levels where the card shuts itself down to protect itself. Take note this would only happen if i launched wow, everything else was fine since it didn't tax the graphics card too much.

Not sure if this is what happened to you though.

One easy thing I can suggest for you is to use System Restore. Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore. Try to restore to a date before you started having problems.

Thanks for the tip Rhodie... maybe its the fan on the card than. Like I said everything else works fine and WoW would just stop working like you said within seconds / minutes.

Still having problems... it is not my graphics card. I am going to take my comp in today and get them to delete everything and than reinstall windows and such.

Hopefully that will fix the problem... if not than who knows.

When was the last time you cleaned out your computer ( i.e. blow out the dust with compressed air/can of air etc ). I have had my cpu heatsink get so much dust on it it stopped airflow and the cpu would overheat and crash all sorts of 3d games, of course like you though, I could browse the web, but nothing 3d game related..

Might be worth a shot looking into. It's a good idea to blow out your computer ever 2 months or so depending on what kind of area you have it stored in ( dusty, dog hair, near a open window etc etc )

Cleaning out all the sweat and reinstalling windows did the trick.

I will be back on Wed night but have to do all my add ons again as it wasn't saved properly before windows was reinstalled.

Still have no clue why this happened... at least it is good to reinstall windows as I am sure there was still some virus in my machine.
