| Each class has a special move, and most of them look quite interesting. Have you considered which class you'll play? I deleted my old ME save games long ago, so I have none to continue with. No choice but to start afresh! | |

| My first game will be based on a saved game from ME1, that has a Paragon Soldier FemShep romancing Liara. I'm pretty sure she's not gonna stay faithful ...
I'm not really very into the combat mechanics. It is very obviously a console game ported over to PC and combat always feels clunky to me, so I played a Soldier and I'd just shoot my way out of everything. Liara could be using her Bionic powers inefficiently and ineffectively for all I care. I also played on Casual mode, heh.
Are you getting the PC or console version?

| I've been raving about Mass Effect 2 before I even found out about Dragon Age. Pc version fo'life. The combat mechanics are luckily being updated for 2 and should be more fluid. Each class also seems more interesting. I played Soldiers and Vanguards in the original because the other classes could barely hold their own on normal-hard mode due to your AI party sucking. That meant you couldn't really use biotics or tech to their full extent as they're more reliant on your team taking advantage. I've got a Renegade male shepard who romanced Liara and let SPACE REPUBLICAAAAAN die. Will probably play either a Vanguard, a Soldier or an Engineer this time around. The Vanguard charge is hella sexy. I've also read the Mass Effect book which explores the Migrant Fleet and the world Omega, both which will be visited in 2. So I'm really looking forward to it! Also, http://www.bravenewgamer.com/2010/01/mass-effect-2-wont-be-charging-for-dlc-on-launch-day-details-coming-next-week/ . DA had a similar deal, with the attached coupons inside the game box. | |

| still have my saved games of renegade and paragon shep so definately looking foward to it
most of all im looking foward to another 'choose-who-dies' situation with the option to 'fuck em, let them both die, lets get outta here' due to how much i hated alenko for being so emo and ashley a total biatch. should try a run thru with both of them till 1 dies to see what i mean
although i have to admit they did a very good job in developing those characters considering how hardcore i felt for them. so far the only npc i really liked was seth green's joker, tali and bioware's trademark of making very awesome nemesis: saren, loghain, kotor1 bad guy, etc. and to some point even udina was an awesome character as you just wished you could kill him at some point. cant wait to see ME2 nemesis
oh and on a last note i think liara is by far the best 'im-such-an-innocent-alien-so-please-screw-me' character in any game.

| Wireless Kayboard & Mouse... all I need is to get a widescreen plasma on my wall and I do believe that my Keyboard + Mouse > XBoX!
But then again I do agree that watching your on kid sleep is probably more entertaining!

| From http://news.bigdownload.com/2010/01/19/mass-effect-2-to-get-dlc-updates-via-the-cerberus-network/ : With just one week away from Mass Effect 2's release, developer BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts are prepping to have the upcoming sci-fi RPG delivery not just downloadable content but other items like daily news and announcement about the game. Those updates will come via the just revealed portal called The Cerebus Network. People who purchase the game from stores or via digital download will be able to access The Cerebus Network and its updates for free. People who purchase used copies of the game will be able to access the network for a one time fee. The first DLC content will go live on January 26, the day of the game's release. A new free mission will be part of the update that will add a new gun-for-hire character, Zaeed (pictured above). Future DLC releases will include the addition of the new Hammerhead vehicle along with other new missions, weapons and items. -------------- Hawt | |

Also hilarious, getting to shoot Conrad Verner IN THE FOOT.

| I'm about to go to the flotilla to recruit Tali. She's my last squad mate to be conscripted, I mean, recruited.
It's strange that only the humans and quarians have both sexes. Never met a female turian. All salarians look like highschool geeks. Every volus comes across as sleazy old men. Never seen female krogans either. Nor batarians. The asari, apparently, are the Milky Way's prostitutes. Do the turians, salarians and volus all keep their women at home like the Saudis?
I like the conversations that go on in the background between the NPCs. There's a turian who's trying to score with a quarian who's clearly not interested in him and would rather masturbate than go out with him. Heh.

| If you go to the Krogan homeworld and follow through with Grunt's personal story you see a female krogan as well as get an explanation as to why there are no females in Urdnot's camp, at least. Salarians are another matter, if you talk to the Professor he goes on about how short their lifespans are and something to do with cell divison. By the way, the Professor has one of the most awesome 'funny' dialogue options after you complete his sidemission and make him loyal. I don't think I'd want to meet a female Batarian or Volus though >.> I'm really happy with the characters in ME2. In 1, I hated Ashley, Liara and Kaidan. In 2, almost every party member is awesome. Only one I have a problem with so far is Zaeed. They did a really good job explaining each character's backgrounds/philosophies through their personal side missions. I thought I would hate Jack, but after going through her dialogue and story, my mind changed And Garrus is a lot cooler this time through, more his own character and less reliant on your approval/disapproval of his actions. What I do hate is fuel and probe scanning But this is easily countered by how awesome the emergency actions with the mouseclicks is. I LOVE SHOOTING GUNS OUT OF PEOPLE'S HANDS AS THEY THREATEN ME. | |

| Miranda has a faint Aussie accent, since she's voiced by Yvonne Strahovski. The model for her was also based on the actress.
You know, while I loved the game and was hooked, now i'm finished I'm kind of out of it. I found Dragon Age was more involving, though ME2 had faster paced and intense combat. Rank 4 Vanguard Charge made me wet (MODERN TITAN LEAP). Nothing so cool as charging across the battlefield, smashing into your enemy, knocking them off a ledge, turning around in that split-second where time is still slowed down, and shotgunning a mob turning to you right in the fucking face!
But yeah, while I definitely liked the characters and the missions, finding side missions wasn't nearly as accessible as before and I hate paying for fuel!!! Some of the additions in ME2 took the fun out of it, definitely.
You know Imz, I bet your daughter is already as vain as her daddy!

| I've recruited all and done all their loyalty missions and about to get on the final mission. I'm not sure I can stomach playing it through again with the default Shepard. I've only played ME1 through once and the default Shep in ME2 got just about everyone that can be killed killed. Wrex dead. Rachni dead. Green asari dead. Council dead (this I don't mind as much).
I could use the link above to get the Rent-a-Shep files, I guess. It still feels like I'm playing someone else's character though.

| Haha I killed council every try through in the original so I got one of the savegames which let them live and visited the Citadel. Dear god, even after issuing the command to save them they're a bunch of fuckheads. You aren't missing anything. | |

| So Sym and Imz, did your Shepard save everyone, squad mate and crew? SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS I've completed the game with everyone alive and now that I've browsed the spoiler-allowed forums (avoided that before completing the game), I'm convinced that for Shepard to die permanently in ME2, he/she has to be ill-prepared (lack the appropriate upgrades), uninspiring (lack squad members' loyalty), and fail to understand his squad members' strengths (assigned the wrong person to the tasks). In which case he/she deserves to die heheh. I didn't get every upgrade, but I made sure the ship got the necessary ones. I even went back a save that was 2 hours old just to avoid the catfight ("take pictures!") that would result in one of the parties losing loyalty in order to build up Paragon points just so I can have the whole team's loyalty. My femshep even told Zaeed that she did not want him on her ship at the end of his loyalty mission due to his insubordination, but he became loyal anyway. I got a hint somewhere that Kelly would die if I took too long to rescue her, so I did every loyalty mission before getting the IFF. Now my femshep can call her to her room anytime How did you assign the tasks in the suicide mission? For me, it was: Tech specialist: Legion I figured it was more expendable than the others as losing one Geth unit is really just like a human body losing a white blood cell to an infection. I'd like to keep Tali safe. Diversion team leader: Garrus. He's experienced and I gave him this role twice. Biotic specialist: Jack While my femshep is a brilliant strategist, tactician and warrior, she's also a charismatic leader and saw that this would be an opportunity for growth for the young fiery biotic. She has thus far been looking out for just herself and giving her the responsibility of keeping the squad safe could be life-changing. Crew escort: Zaeed. My femshep believes he has learned his lesson not to put his own goals ahead of the mission and so tasked him to ensure the crew's safety. Tactically, I thought I would have to play as him at some point, so a soldier would be better. Final team: Thane and Samara. | |
