WoW Maker to set up Office in Singapore

It will offer technical support to players, as it is locating its Battle.net servers in Singapore as well.

This will greatly reduce server latency, or lag, for players of its wildly popular games, the latest being the long-anticipated StarCraft II.

The California-based game developer and publisher said it is keen to expand its presence in this region, given the burgeoning gaming population.

Its other Asian servers are in South Korea and Taiwan.

The location, opening date and size of the office have yet to be decided, said Blizzard.

I just hope this will break their ties with Asiasoft, who is handling the distribution of Blizzard games and prepaid cards here...

I just hope this means they'll do maintenance early morning instead of the evenings.
Mind you that would mean that Asia would get content 12 hours after the US because there's no way they'd let us have it first

I'm wondering if this has any implications for oceanic wow servers. The Australia-Singapore link is still quite far, but its not as far as Australia-America.

We'll be able to get sub-150 pings hopefully.

I'm pretty sure I've read that they will not make oceanic wow servers due to cost issues. I assume the Bnet servers are just for better matchmaking through battlenet for starcraft 2 and the incoming RealID features.

But we can all hope ya ? Lets hope that if they do, the latency is good enough for shift to handle ! I don't want to go back to Uther ( not like I would anyways, dead server nowadays for my playtime )

Having played on Singaporean servers with BF:BC2 it's still around the 200ms mark. GOOD GAME AUSTRALIAN LINES.

not playing it now as well...not as epic as BF2

BF:BC2 was more MW2 than BF, due to smaller but faster paced scale (due to team spawn), and no dogfights.
